Pokémon

Pokémon is a media franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori, originally launched by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures in 1996. The term “Pokémon” is a contraction of the Japanese brand “Pocket Monsters” (ポケットモンスター).

Pokémon primarily refers to fictional creatures that exist in a vast, fictional world where humans, known as Pokémon Trainers, capture, train, and battle with these creatures. These Pokémon come in various species, each with unique abilities, types, and characteristics. The main goal of trainers is often to become Pokémon Masters by capturing and training Pokémon, competing in battles, and completing various challenges.

The franchise encompasses video games, trading card games, an animated television series, movies, merchandise, and more. It has gained immense popularity worldwide, leading to a significant cultural impact and a dedicated fanbase. The core gameplay revolves around exploration, strategy, and role-playing elements as players seek to collect Pokémon and defeat opponents in battles. The term “Pokémon” encompasses all these aspects, representing both the creatures themselves and the overarching universe they inhabit.
